THE FLAMINGO PROJECT
Central Oregon Mediation has acquired a flock of two dozen flamingos. This Flock appears on Central Oregon lawns periodically. The Flock spreads the word about Mediation and how to access and support the services.
The flock first landed on Sawyer Court as pictured above. The sender of the flock, Dick Eisman, former COM Board member and current Mediator, sent the flock to celebrate a birthday of the resident there, daughter Lura.
Each time the flock takes flight, the sender has the opportunity of naming a flamingo. Dick chose to honor a true peacemaker named "Dexter". Dexter is an 8 year old poodle/cross who according to Dick "has a terrific personality and immediately disarms people and lowers everyone's stress level. He is a real tension reliever. He's a real charmer." Dexter, the flamingo, now wears an identifying nametag with his name and the donor's name.
If you would like to send the flock to a specific home or business (yard required) simply call COM at 383-0187 to set it up. We can mail you a Flight Plan for you to fill out or we can email you the request form.
Here are some comments from recipients:
"Waking up to a bunch of beautiful pink birds on your lawn, really sets the day apart from all the rest. "
"We had a wonderful time deciding where to send the flock next."
"It was just a feel good day all day long."
